Our sympathies and prayers go to Jacob & Katharina Enns on the death of Jacob’s brother, Peter Enns, in Paraguay on Feb. 12th. He was also uncle to Harry & Carmen Enns and great uncle to Manuela Enns.

Be part of something big! Every year, MCC’s meat canning operation provides over 500,000 cans of food for people around the world—and we need your help! We’re looking for a small number of people to join a volunteer committee to help coordinate MCC’s annual meat canning drive here in Manitoba. Hear more and decide if you want to help at our upcoming info night - February 24 at Carman Mennonite Church – 7:30 pm. For more info, contact Gord Letkeman at (204)829-3005.

Special event - MCC's Low German Mennonite Services Program is hosting a Paraguayan Mennonite Culture Night at Sam's Place on March 4, 2016 at 7:30 pm. This event takes the place of the one that was scheduled for Feb 25. Musical guests include 3MolPlaut, Low German folk singers. Program Coordinator, Tina Fehr Kehler, will share stories about her work, and Elfrieda Schroeder will share her musings on the Paraguayan Mennonite experience.

MCC Low German event: Post Faspa on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 2:00–5:00pm at the Grunthal Bergthaler Church in Grunthal. This event features pictures and stories from Kennert Giesbrecht, the editor of Die Mennonitische Post with guest musician Paul Dueck, Paraguayan harpist. Faspa will be provided after the program! Please note that this event will be in Low German.

The MCI Musical Production of Mary Poppins will be presented from March 10-12 at 7:30 pm at Buhler Hall in Gretna.  There will also be a matinee performance on Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 pm.  Please visit www.mciblues.net for tickets.

MC Canada Bulletin  Announcements for Sunday, February 14, 2016:    

·         Area Churches and Congregations are invited to submit advance resolutions for discernment at the Mennonite Church Canada Annual Delegate Assembly in Saskatoon this coming July 6-10. Advance resolutions help congregational discernment in preparation for the Assembly. Guidelines and a template can be found at www.commonword.ca/go/502 .

 

·         In September 2015, leaders of Canadian faith communities issued a statement “On Promoting Climate Justice and Ending Poverty in Canada” (cpj.ca/ccc-statement), a call for federal government action to end poverty and fight climate change. Now Citizens for Public Justice is coordinating a national petition from people of faith who are echoing this call for climate justice. Add your voice to the call online at cpj.ca/climate-call.
