MC Canada Bulletin  Announcements for Sunday, February 28, 2016:    

·         Assembly 2016 registration is now open at http://home.mennonitechurch.ca/saskatoon2016/information Theme: God~Faith~People (Jeremiah 31:33). Keynote Speaker Safwat  Marzouk, assistant professor of Old Testament at AMBS, will bring compelling insights to ancient texts. Stay tuned to your bulletin for more highlights in the coming weeks.

Volunteer to have fun, to experience a great time and to participate in the province’s largest ongoing multi-sport program.  The City of Steinbach will be hosting the 2016 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games August 7-13, 2016.   The 2016 Steinbach Host Society are looking for 1000 volunteers of all ages to welcome kids ages 10-17 from across the province.  It is a great opportunity to meet new people, build a sense of community and gain experience.  There are various volunteer opportunities; something for everyone!

New book to explore the covenant implications of treaties

The Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba (TRCM) and Mennonite Church Canada have partnered to produce a new book: Why Treaties Matter? An Inter-religious Dialogue on Land and Life Together. (February 23, 2016)

Christ at the coffee shop: Conversations about evangelism

In the spring of 2015, Pastor Kassa Lemma of Rehoboth Evangelical Church in Toronto invited Mennonite Church Canada Executive Director Willard Metzger to speak at an Ethiopian evangelistic conference. Metzger admits that his first response was hesitant. “We don’t do that anymore as Mennonites.” But he says the more he thought about it, the more he realized that Mennonites do engage in evangelism—they just go about it in different ways. Caring for refugees

Mennonite Church Canada congregations are taking the words of Deuteronomy 10: 18-19 to heart by caring for Syrian refugees. The Deuteronomy passage shares God’s desire to cloth and feed strangers. It’s a rather fitting way for Mennonites to express God’s love; many of them were once refugees to Canada too. (February 4, 2016)

Biker club Christians

Violating the conventions of biker culture landed the UK Christian motorcycle club God’s Squad in hot water. With the help of their president Joseph (pseudonym) who is a member of the Anabaptist Network, they kept their cool and found a peaceful path to resolution. (February 4, 2016)
