Thank you for worshipping with us this morning. If you are visiting with us, we welcome you and would like to get to know you. We invite you to introduce yourself to us at the Welcome Centre. Some basic information about our church is available to you there.

 

 

 

The Luther College Choir from Regina, SK will present a concert on Wednesday, March 30, 7:00 pm, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 465 Henry Street, Steinbach. The choir performs a variety of music ranging from hymns to folk songs to vocal jazz arrangements. Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no admission charge.

1.       You’re invited to A Fresh Look at CMU: A Spring Evening Fundraiser in support of Canadian Mennonite University on Thursday, April 7 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. This year’s spring event will be held at the university’s Shaftesbury campus. The evening will begin with your program choice in one of three different campus locations—Marpeck Commons, the Great Hall, and the Laudamus Auditorium, following which we will gather in the Loewen Athletic Centre. 2.      CMU Spring Break Open House: Students in grades 9–12 are invited to our Spring Break Open House! Stop by Marpeck Commons on March 30 between 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM to participate in a campus tour, bike-building and printing press workshops, enjoy free gelato, and discover all that CMU offers. 4.      The theme for CMU Vespers this month is “Psalms Are Us”. Vespers will be held Sunday, March 20 at 7:00 PM in the Laudamus Auditorium with Mel Braun conducting and Dietrich Bartel leading worship. All are welcome.

 

5.      You are invited to a public lecture on The Impact of Christian-Muslim Relations on World Peace with Dr. Mohammad Ali Shomali, Director of the Islamic Centre of England and the Founding Director of the International Institute for Islamic Studies on Wednesday, March 30 from 7:00–9:00 PM in Marpeck Commons, 2299 Grant Ave.

 

6.      Bells and Whistles with Strings Attached: Enjoy performances by the CMU Handbell Choir and the Guitar Ensemble on Sunday, April 3 at 7:00 PM in the Laudamus Auditorium. Admission $5.

 

7.      CMU’s Jazz ensembles, including the Wholly Jazz vocal ensemble and the CMU Jazz Band present Jazz at CMU on Wednesday, April 6 at 7:00 PM in the Great Hall. Admission $5.

·         Churches have been summoned by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada to engage the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. How will we do that?

"Wrongs to Rights" is a new conversation guide and study from Mennonite Church Canada's Indigenous Relations office, featuring 40 Indigenous, Settler, Christian and Traditional authors, poets and artists, to help your congregation begin the discussion. KyungHee Park, Mennonite Church Canada Witness Executive Assistant, is arranging itineration schedules for international Witness workers who will speak with Canadian congregations this summer. Ø  This Sunday, March 20th there will be a service of Lament & Prayer for Pimicikamak Cree Nation (Cross Lake).   In the last two months, six members from this community have taken their lives, eighteen have attempted the same, and over one hundred and forty have reported suicidal ideation. There is a long and complex history behind these tragedies, but for now we hope to gather in solidarity and prayer for our sisters and brothers whose sorrows are profound and whose God-beloved lives are inextricably woven with our own.  The service will be held at Home Street Mennonite Church (318 Home Street, Winnipeg). Doors will open at 4:00 pm for silent reflection, prayer, smudging and drumming.  The service will begin at 5:00 pm.  A time of food and fellowship will follow (if you are able, please bring some squares, cookies or finger food to share).
