Aug. 21, 2:30 p.m. Kanadiertreffen - A gathering of Low German speaking Mennonites emigrating from Latin America at Bethel Heritage Park next to the Winkler Library in downtown Winkler. The event will include stories by Kennert Giesbrecht, Editor of Die Mennonitsche Post, music by Henry & Susie Zacharias, and a children’s program. Bring something to share for the potluck Faspa, come and knack some zoat with us!

Canadian Mennonite University Events and Opportunities for Church Bulletins

1.      Xplore announcements

For Winnipeg and Vicinity

Xplore: Keep Thinking: CMU Χplore offers courses that investigate dimensions of the Christian faith, our world, and life in it - all without any assignments or examinations!  Classes run on Wednesday mornings for 6 weeks, beginning October 5. Courses include Church Practices and Christian Imagination with Irma Fast Dueck, Associate Professor of Practical Theology. All who delight in a stimulating exploration of faith and life are invited to register. For further information see cmu.ca/xplore.

For Southern Manitoba

All without any assignments or examinations!  Classes run on Thursday mornings for 6 weeks, beginning October 6, and are held at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Winkler. Courses include 1 Corinthians with Michael Pahl, Lead Pastor, Morden Mennonite Church. All who delight in a stimulating exploration of faith and life are invited to register. 2.      Portable CMU: Canadian Mennonite University offers a wide variety of short courses and workshops on a range of topics to resource congregations in their local communities. Note that the subsidy CMU provides has been significantly increased and new topics are offered. Topics include Being the Church Even When We Disagree with Wendy Kroeker, Instructor of Peace & Conflict Transformation Studies and Co-Director of Canadian School of Peacebuilding. 3.      Evening Courses: CMU offers a number of evening courses as part of its undergraduate curriculum. These courses are available for audit or credit to students not enrolled in a full time program. Evening courses offered this fall include Abnormal Psychology, Introduction to Business and Organizational Administration, and Introduction to Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies. 4.      Canadian Mennonite University invites inquiries and applications for two full-time salaried positions: Vice President Academic & Academic Dean and a faculty opening in Business & Organizational Administration. 5.      Catch Olympic fever and get active at CMU Blazers Summer Sports Camps 2016! There are still openings August 22-26 for Junior soccer (grades 5-8), ultimate Frisbee (grades 7-10), and volleyball  (grades 6-8). Marla and Karl Langalotz of Winnipeg, Man., are taking time away from their regular roles to serve for nine months with Mennonite Church Canada in Ludwigshafen, Germany (Sept 2016 to May 2017). They are assisting Witness workers Gregory Rabus and Jennifer Otto in their ministry with the Ludwigshafen Mennonite Church, developing a community outreach program in response to the needs of many refugees in that city.
