1.       Making it Home: Learning Anew to Build Community - An evening of Story-telling, Dessert and Song in Support of CMU. Join us for a stimulating evening of stories about how communities like Altona, and church schools like CMU, are creating ‘home’ for refugees, new Canadians and for Canadians of many backgrounds. An Altona community leader, CMU faculty member, international alumnus and the coordinator of the CMU-Peguis First Nation Transition Program will share stories. A wonderful time of singing, led by CMU music students (including Nolan Kehler) will be included. Friday, October 14 from 7:00-9:00 PM at South Park Mennonite Brethren Church, Altona. For more information or to confirm attendance contact Joyce Friesen at jfriesen@cmu.ca or 204-594-0517.

2.       Xplore announcements

Classes run on Thursday mornings for 6 weeks, beginning October 6, and are held at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Winkler. Courses include The Church in the Global South with Titus Guenther, Associate Professor Emeritus of Theology & Missions. For further information see cmu.ca/xplore.

Richard Middleton, Professor at Northeastern Seminary (Rochester, NY), and past President of the Canadian Evangelical Theological Association. These lectures explore what sort of prayer is appropriate in situations of difficulty and suffering. In contrast to the default spirituality of many, the Bible suggests that God desires vigorous dialogue partners, who will wrestle with God, baring their heart and soul to him, as they seek redress. CMU Chapel, October 25 and 26. See more at cmu.ca/jjt.
