"October 30: Autumn with the MCO - The Mennonite Community Orchestra, conducted by Professor William Gordon, are pleased to invite you to a concert featuring Elgar's Enigma Variations and Vaughan William's 5th Symphony. Also featured will be award winning CMU student Breanna Heinrichs on the 2nd movement of the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto. 3 PM in the CMU Chapel at 600 Shaftesbury Blvd.

Our children are so blessed to have Discovery Time in our schools. Many parents have expressed great appreciation for the program. This Bible-based class runs weekly from October to April in our public schools and is taught by people like you! We currently have opportunities open in several schools. Canadian Mennonite University Events and Opportunities for Church Bulletins

1.       Making it Home: Learning Anew to Build Community - An evening of Story-telling, Dessert and Song in Support of CMU. Join us for a stimulating evening of stories about how communities like Altona, and church schools like CMU, are creating ‘home’ for refugees, new Canadians and for Canadians of many backgrounds. An Altona community leader, CMU faculty member, international alumnus and the coordinator of the CMU-Peguis First Nation Transition Program will share stories. A wonderful time of singing, led by CMU music students (including Nolan Kehler) will be included. Friday, October 14 from 7:00-9:00 PM at South Park Mennonite Brethren Church, Altona. For more information or to confirm attendance contact Joyce Friesen at jfriesen@cmu.ca or 204-594-0517.

 

2.       Xplore: Keep Thinking: CMU Χplore offers courses that investigate dimensions of the Christian faith, our world, and life in it. Classes run on Thursday mornings for 6 weeks, beginning October 6, and are held at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Winkler. For further information see cmu.ca/xplore.

 

3.       CMU Open House October 21:  A grade 9–12 ‘come and go’ opportunity designed for students to explore programs and opportunities at CMU. Join a campus tour, participate in a chapel, choir or a class - and enjoy free gelato. Drop in at Marpeck Commons on Friday, October 21 anytime between 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Join the call for a Hunger Free Manitoba - Hunger Free Manitoba is a united effort of faith communities calling on the government of Manitoba to support those who are most vulnerable. We support Make Poverty History Manitoba’s campaign to increase the Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) basic needs allowance for Manitobans who are living in poverty. Volunteer needed - MCC Canada Audit and Finance Committee: MCC Canada is looking for an accounting professional  to join its Audit and Finance Committee. This volunteer position requires a professional accounting designation with relevant audit and financial reporting expertise.
