Our sympathies and prayers go to Elizabeth Abrahams on the death of her brother-in-law, Jack Dyck, of Coaldale, Alberta, who passed away on Nov. 27th.

Our sympathies and prayers go to Angela, Vanessa and Ryan Dyck on the death of their husband and father, Gord Dyck, on Nov. 29th. We also extend condolences to Peter & Margaret Dyck, Ingrid & Reg Penner and family and Ron & Andrea Dick and family. The funeral was on Dec. 3rd.

Our sympathies and prayers go to Randy Dueck and Leonie & Ewald Enns and family on the death of their mother,
Anna Dueck, on Nov. 30th. Anna’s funeral will be on Sunday, Dec. 4th at 2:30 p.m. at SMC.

Our sympathies and prayers go to Isbrand & Trudy Fehr and Martin Fehr on the death of their cousin, Peter Fehr, in Paraguay on Nov. 30th.

CHURCH FAMILY INFORMATION

We are planning a Child Dedication Service for Dec. 11th. If you are interested in participating, contact one of the pastors.

Christmas Dinner: Helen Funk is coordinating a group of workers for the Christmas Day Dinner. If you would like to help, please sign up at the Welcome Centre. Thank you to those who have already said you can help. We appreciate it!

ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM VISION COUNCIL:

1.  Special Congregational Meeting #4 was held on Nov. 20 to make plans with and for those who intend to continue worshipping at SMC after Feb. 28, 2017.  Not everyone was able to be at the meeting and attendees may feel that they still have thoughts to contribute.  You can participate online (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeaG0StpwDwuBUFOX5L_k73xJPJD36UA6Q6VS0lfZBnKUkwiQ/viewform?c=0&w=1) or via paper copy (available at the Welcome Centre) until Dec. 23.  Your input is important!

2.  The Rebuild SMC Task Force (RSTF) is going to begin its work tomorrow.  Vision Council appointed Chair John Kroeker and Kendra Friesen.  The congregational nomination was accepted by Bev Unger, Wilf Sawatzky and Larry Thiessen.  Vision Council's Chair or Vice-Chair is an ex officio member.  Please support these people with your suggestions, prayers and words of encouragement as we seek God's will for the future.

During Advent we invite the congregation to support SMC’s Community Outreach Ministry through our annual Winter Warmth Giving Project.  This year we are targeting family breakfasts.   

Healthy breakfast ideas: Milk, Eggs, Cereal/oatmeal, Breakfast bars, Margarine, Peanut butter, Jam, etc.

Canadian Mennonite University Events and Opportunities for Church Bulletins

1.      Canadian Mennonite University's Sunday@CMU radio program is pleased to feature a special sermon series by Sue Sorensen throughout December. Sue, who is associate professor of English at CMU, explores Jesus's miracles and relates them to Advent/Christmas in the four-part series. Sunday@CMU airs Sunday mornings at 8:30-8:45 AM on CFAM 950 Radio and AM 1250 Radio and online at tinyurl.com/Sunday-CMU.
